Elearning Proposal
Background
Many African students find themselves at a disadvantage during the interview stage of their application to private schools in France. Often, these students are unaware of what is expected of them and are inadequately prepared for this critical step. A quick Google search reveals numerous videos aimed at guiding students through this process, but the varying relevance and quality of these resources, coupled with the desperation evident in the comment sections, highlight a significant performance gap.
The mission of Karatou Post Bac (derived from the Hausa word « karatou, » meaning « studies ») is to support students in realizing their educational projects and overcoming potential barriers to ensure true equality of opportunity. This issue of interview preparedness falls squarely within the core mission of the organization.
Organizational objectives
The primary objective of this training module is to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to turn the interview stage into a positive and successful component of their application process. This aligns with Karatou Post Bac’s strategic goal of facilitating student success through comprehensive support.
Target audience
The target audience for this module includes international students, primarily from Africa, who need to pass an interview to gain admission to private schools in France.
Learning objectives
- Demonstrate the ability to present oneself confidently and concisely.
- Articulate motivation effectively during the interview.
- Formulate a clear and detailed plan for one’s study project and career path.
- Explain the importance of financial planning for academic success.
- List personal strengths and weaknesses.
- Prepare a list of insightful questions to ask during the interview.
Acquisition of learners’ needs
Learner needs are identified through the extensive experience of Karatou Post Bac agents who have been in contact with students for over a decade. Additionally, ongoing analysis of feedback from students ensures that the course content remains relevant and effective.
Outcomes assessment
The success of the module will be measured through assessments embedded within the module, tracking the achievement of the stated learning objectives. Additionally, feedback from participants will be collected to continuously improve the module’s effectiveness.
Design
Format
The module will be delivered as an asynchronous, self-paced course. This format is chosen to accommodate the target audience, primarily located in Africa, where internet connectivity can be inconsistent, and students are geographically dispersed. An asynchronous, self-paced format allows students to access the material at their convenience, accommodating fluctuating internet connectivity and varying time zones. This ensures that all students, regardless of their location, can benefit from the module.
Flow
The module will consist of seven lessons and a summative test:
- Lesson 1: Introduce Yourself
- Lesson 2: Demonstrate Your Motivation
- Lesson 3: Present Your Study Project and Professional Goals
- Lesson 4: Prove You Have Sufficient Financial Resources
- Lesson 5: Show an Understanding of Your Strengths and Weaknesses
- Lesson 6: Dare to Ask Questions
- Test : Test Your Understanding
- Lesson 7: What to Expect After Your Interview
The structure of the course has been decided using action mapping.

Development
The project was developed and deployed in June 2024 . This timeline aligned with a peak period for students planning to start their studies in September and undergoing student visa procedures. The course was distributed through the same channels as the rest of Karatou Post Bac’s training offerings. A link to the course was provided to students in need during their support sessions, and the course was also hosted on Karatou Post Bac’s system.Io site. The course development was iterative, with the Product Manager involved in validating each phase of the design and development process.
